A Day Out in Alicante – Cruise Ships, Central Market, Food & a Surprise at Los Porrones

Alicante is one of those cities on the Costa Blanca that is perfect for a day out, whether you live in Spain, are visiting on holiday or have arrived by cruise ship.

On this occasion, we headed into Alicante by bus to meet friends arriving at the city’s cruise port. What started as a simple day meeting friends turned into a great day exploring Alicante, enjoying some food and drinks and discovering somewhere new to eat.

🚢 Meeting Friends at Alicante Cruise Port

Alicante is a popular stop for cruise ships, bringing visitors from all over the world into the city. The cruise port is just a short distance from the centre, making it easy for passengers to explore Alicante during a day in port.

We headed into the city to meet our friends as they arrived by cruise ship before spending the day together exploring what Alicante has to offer.

🥘 Exploring Alicante Central Market

One of our stops was the famous Alicante Central Market.

The market is a great place to experience a taste of everyday life in Alicante, with stalls selling fresh produce, meat, fish, seafood and plenty of local products.

Whether you’re visiting Alicante for a few hours or spending several days here, the Central Market is well worth adding to your itinerary.

🍴 Food, Drinks & a New Restaurant

Of course, no day out with friends would be complete without some food and drinks!

During our day in Alicante, we sampled some of the food and drink the city has to offer before checking out the new Los Porrones restaurant.

And there was a little moment in the restaurant that definitely caught Sarah by surprise! 😲

Alicante has plenty to offer visitors, including its historic old town, beautiful beaches, marina, castle, markets, restaurants and lively atmosphere.

It’s also an ideal destination for anyone staying elsewhere on the Costa Blanca who wants to enjoy a day trip.
