Madrid- Our first ever visit
We´ve only either skirted past Madrid on our way to/ from Bilbao/ Santander for the ferry, or there´s the one time we went to Madrid and back in 2013 to see Bruno Mars in Concert. Top tip: we did it all the same day. Not recommended.
Helen got this trip for Andy for Christmas.
We travelled from Alicante by high speed RENFE train (others are available) and we were staying close to Puerta del Sol in Madrid- and as we used a “regular” train to get from Madrid Chamartin Train Station to Sol Station, we didn´t need to purchase an extra ticket to travel into Madrid centre.
We stayed at B&B HOTEL Madrid Centro Puerta del Sol https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/b-amp-b-puerta-del-sol.en.html?aid=8013803&no_rooms=1&group_adults=2
We explored this historic Spanish City on foot.
We tried local foods, ate in some fantastic bars and restaurants- some over several hundred years old!- visited the Cathedral and several Churches, and the Royal Palace of Madrid.
The Palace and Cathedral was a guided tour: we did that with a tour from Get Your Guide: https://gyg.me/CqflP3Vc
We also tried a Spanish “delicacy”- Oreja – Pigs ear in Casa Toni. As well as this, we visited centuries old bars and restaurants, as well as some others that have their own “local” specialities.
Join us as we explore the city- including parks and lots of food! (Quite possibly the best Tortilla/ Spanish omelette we have EVER had)
