The Biggest Turkey in the Costa Blanca? Christmas in Spain with Brits Living in Spain
Christmas is coming to the Costa Blanca, and we’re getting ready for a very busy festive period!
In this Christmas special, we prepare Christmas Eve dinner, Christmas Day dinner and plenty of other festive food, while also getting involved in some very special Christmas activities.
And then there’s the turkey…
We’re faced with what might just be the biggest turkey in the Costa Blanca — and we’re going to have to get it into a standard-sized oven!
Getting Ready for Christmas
There’s plenty to do before Christmas Day arrives.
We’re preparing food for Christmas Eve as well as the main Christmas dinner, with a whole selection of homemade festive dishes to make.
On the menu are pies, soup, vol-au-vents, desserts and plenty of other Christmas favourites.
And, of course, we have the Christmas turkey and a massive ham to deal with.
The turkey is so big that getting it into the oven becomes a challenge in itself!
Christmas on the Costa Blanca
Christmas in Spain can be quite different from Christmas in the UK, but that doesn’t mean you miss out on the traditions — especially when it comes to food.
We’re determined to have a proper Christmas dinner, even if our kitchen and oven aren’t quite prepared for the size of the turkey!
The video follows our Christmas preparations and everything that goes into getting ready for the big day.
Helping at Christmas
Christmas is also about giving, and we’re pleased to be involved in helping provide Christmas presents for children at the orphanage.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped with the presents.
It’s wonderful to see people getting together and helping to make Christmas a little more special for children who might otherwise have less to look forward to.
A Visit to Lemon Tree Market
As part of our Christmas preparations, we also visit Lemon Tree Market.
Markets are a big part of life on the Costa Blanca, and the Christmas period brings plenty of seasonal food, gifts and other festive items to discover.
It’s another part of getting ready for Christmas — although, as usual, it’s difficult to visit a market without finding something to eat!
Dutch Christmas Specialities
Christmas on the Costa Blanca is also a chance to enjoy some food from other European traditions.
During the video we get to sample Dutch seasonal specialities, adding a little taste of the Netherlands to our Christmas celebrations.
One of the great things about living on the Costa Blanca is the international community. There are people from all over Europe living here, and that means you can experience foods and traditions from many different countries without leaving Spain.
Christmas Day and the Santas
Christmas Day also features the annual Santas gathering at La Zenia Beach.
We’re not actually at the beach for this part of the Christmas story, but the event is part of the festive celebrations taking place around the Costa Blanca.
There is certainly no shortage of Christmas spirit in the area!
