Krabi Longtail Boat Tour to Hong Island, Hong Lagoon and Laolading Island
A private longtail boat, turquoise waters, tropical islands and some of the most spectacular scenery in Thailand – this was a day of island hopping from Krabi that we won’t forget in a hurry.
We set off from Krabi on a private longtail boat adventure across the Andaman Sea, visiting some of the beautiful islands and beaches around the Hong Islands.
Our itinerary included Hong Island, Hong Lagoon and Laolading Island, with plenty of opportunities for swimming, snorkelling, exploring and simply relaxing in some incredible surroundings.
And while most of the day was filled with sunshine and blue skies, our journey back to Krabi had a rather unexpected ending!
Exploring Hong Island
Our first stop was Hong Island, one of the most popular destinations for island-hopping tours from Krabi.
The scenery here is exactly what you might expect from a tropical Thai island – clear turquoise water, white sandy beaches and dramatic limestone cliffs rising from the Andaman Sea.
We had time to explore the island, relax on the beach and take in the incredible views before continuing our boat trip.
The water was beautifully clear, making this a fantastic area for swimming and snorkelling.
Visiting Hong Lagoon
One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to Hong Lagoon.
Surrounded by towering limestone cliffs, the lagoon feels incredibly secluded and peaceful. The contrast between the bright turquoise water and the huge limestone formations makes this one of those places that really does need to be seen in person.
Arriving by traditional Thai longtail boat made the experience even more memorable.
Laolading Island
We also headed to Laolading Island, another beautiful stop on our island-hopping adventure.
With its small sandy beach, crystal-clear water and dramatic tropical scenery, it was the perfect place to spend some time relaxing and enjoying the surroundings.
It’s easy to see why this area of Thailand has become so popular with visitors looking for a tropical island experience.
Snorkelling in the Andaman Sea
There were also opportunities to get into the water and explore some of the snorkelling spots around the islands.
The clear water made it possible to see beneath the surface, and snorkelling added another dimension to the day rather than simply visiting the beaches and viewpoints.
For anyone visiting Krabi who enjoys swimming and snorkelling, an island-hopping trip like this offers plenty of opportunities to get into the water.
Lunch Included
After all that exploring, we were ready for something to eat!
Lunch was included as part of our tour, giving us the chance to sit back, relax and enjoy some food surrounded by the spectacular scenery.
It was a welcome break before continuing our island adventure.
The Journey Back to Krabi
After a fantastic day exploring the islands, it was time to head back towards Krabi.
And that’s when the weather decided to change!
As we made our way back across the Andaman Sea, the skies opened and we were caught in heavy tropical rain.
What had been a calm and sunny boat trip suddenly became a very different experience. 🌧️
It certainly wasn’t what we’d expected when we set off that morning, but it ended up being one of the most memorable parts of the entire day.
Sometimes it’s the unexpected moments that make a travel experience even more memorable!
