As another year comes to an end, we’re looking back at some of the things happening around us as we celebrate the arrival of 2026.
Living on the Costa Blanca means New Year’s Eve can be very different from spending the night in the UK.
The weather, the lifestyle and the people all make celebrating the New Year in Spain a very different experience.
But this isn’t just about New Year’s Eve…
Night Swimming!
One of the more unusual parts of the video is night swimming.
Swimming during the day is one thing, but getting into the water after dark is a completely different experience!
It’s certainly not something you might expect to see in a New Year’s Eve video — but that’s exactly what makes life on the Costa Blanca interesting.

There’s also time for some birthday celebrations and presents.
We take a look at some of the gifts and surprises, adding another personal element to the video.

Known for its distinctive smell and strong flavour, durian is one of those fruits that people tend to have very strong opinions about.
